A look inside Caleo Consulting’s strategy session.

Sometimes the most strategic thing you can do is step back and think.
Over the past month, we decided to do exactly that. To practice what we ask of our clients every day. We stepped out of the day-to-day, closed our laptops, and spent two days working on the business, not just in it.
Hosted at the idyllic Reiersvlei Farmhouse in Stanford, and guided by two exceptional facilitators, the experience was both grounding and expansive.
Day one focused inward.
Led by the incredible Catch Caccivio, we stepped away from the business entirely and focused on ourselves. Through guided reflection, meditation, and deep personal work, we each built a personal vision book.
It was a process that asked us to slow down, get honest, and reconnect with who we are, what drives us, and what matters most in this season of our lives. We're advocates of the idea that before you can align a business, you need alignment among the people building it.
Day two turned outward.
Led by our Strategy Partner, Monique Visee, the focus shifted to Caleo Consulting: Our future, our direction, and how we get there. We explored where we’re going over the next five to ten years, what we are building towards, and how each of our individual strengths contributes to that bigger vision.
We focused not only on what we want to do as a business, but also on the way we want to show up as a team while doing it.
What emerged was clarity on where we’re going, what truly matters, and where our time and energy should be focused. It also gave us a clear view of what needs to shift, and just as importantly, what needs to fall away.
Possibly the most valuable moments weren’t just in the planning, but actually the conversations we had. Honest, open, and at times uncomfortable, but in the best possible way. Because while strategies can be copied and structures adapted, an empowered and motivated team is an irreplaceable competitive advantage in the modern workforce.
This is where many organisations get it wrong. Strategy is about alignment. You can have a clear plan, but if the people responsible for delivering it aren’t aligned, it rarely translates into meaningful execution.
And at Caleo, this is exactly the work we do. Through our strategy pillar, led by Monique, we help leadership teams step out of the noise, think clearly, and align on what truly matters, both individually and collectively.
